Shu-Kai Hsieh is currently an associate professor and chair of the Graduate Institute of Linguistics at National Taiwan University. His main research interest centers around the overlapping areas of computational linguistics, language and cognition, language resources construction and evaluation. In particular, he has been working on the construction of ontological lexical knowledge resources that aim to improve the performance of Natural Language Processing / Understanding systems and facilitate e-Humanities researches as well. He is the founder of Taiwan Olympiad in Linguistics (TOL), and serves as the team leader and head coach of the Taiwanese national teams for International Olympiad in Linguistics (IOL). He is also head consultant of Knowledge-yielding Language Engineering (KYLE) and Linguistic Annotations (ANNO).
